Fast, Thinspo

A while ago I said that I hated fasting because it wasn't as effective as restricting. That statement still holds true when I'm at a lower weight, but since gaining a bit back I've found that fasting is the way to go once again. I've been on a very strict liquid fast (tea, water, and low-calorie juice only) for a few days. Here are the results.

5/1/2011 3:30AM FAST BEGIN
5/1/2011 4:00AM 138.0LBS / 62.6kg
5/1/2011 5:59PM 135.6LBS / 61.5kg
5/2/2011 1:38AM 134.8LBS / 61.1kg
5/2/2011 5:54PM 134.2LBS / 60.9kg
5/2/2011 10:15PM 133.8LBS / 60.7kg
5/3/2011 3:23AM 132.0LBS / 59.9kg
5/3/2011 8:24PM 131.2LBS / 59.5kg
5/4/2011 2:03AM 131.0LBS / 59.4kg
5/4/2011 6:58PM 130.2LBS / 59.1kg
5/4/2011 11:46PM 129.0LBS / 58.5kg
5/5/2011 6:10AM 128.4LBS / 58.2kg
5/5/2011 9:45AM 128.2LBS / 58.1kg
5/5/2011 8:58PM 127.8LBS / 58.0kg
5/6/2011 4:43AM 127.4LBS / 57.8kg
5/7/2011 2:02AM 126.2LSB / 57.2kg
5/7/2011 6:49AM 126.0LBS / 57.1kg

That's a total loss of more than 12lbs / 5kg in 7 days. I've never tried a liquid fast this long before, but the weight loss is amazingly addicting. I don't feel low on energy or lethargic. It can be done. Stay strong and believe in yourself. Here's to putting down the fork and keeping it off. Enjoy some thinspiration!

P.S. I've had a hobby of making jewelry, but now I sell it too. There's a link to my shop at the bottom of my blog. I think I'll start giving away red and purple themed sets soon.

Lolita, Tea Fast

The vacation that I was trying so desperately to lose weight for has come and gone. It was amazing but I didn't get to 100lbs as I had hoped. Heck, I didn't even make it back to my lowest weight (118lbs / 53.5kg).

While I've been away I suddenly became very interested in a fashion movement known as "lolita." I know very little about it so forgive me if my terminology is off. From what little information I've gathered, most girls who are interested in it have had or do have an eating disorder (around 70% according to some surveys.) This is due in part to the fact that most of the clothing is sized for petite Japanese women. The largest size for most of the popular brands would only accommodate up to a 26'' waist! Keep in mind that's the LARGEST. Imagine if you walked into your local clothing shop to find that a 2XL only fit someone with a 34'' bust and 26'' waist. You'd only make a pit stop by your house to throw all the food away before you hit the gym.

This style is drastically different from anything I've ever worn before. Most of my wardrobe looks something like the picture above. I get cries of "Matrix," "Edward Scissorhands," and "Halloween is in October" everywhere I go. I guess I'd classify myself as alternative. I take a lot of inspiration from old school goths, visual kei and steampunk - but I try to steer more towards the Victorian-era-look of things and away from the industrial / metal / rivet head side. (Have fun throwing all that together.)

While I'm on the topic of fashion... oh my word was it nice to finally have a pair of Demonia boots that I have to wear laced as tight as they'll go with the buckles on the innermost loop. Losing weight is the best thing I've ever decided to do.

Back on topic: in a fit of desperation a few days before my vacation I went on a tea fast. I had nothing but green tea (with or without honey) and water for four days. It's a personal rule of mine not to fast because I don't usually get the results I want... but this was amazingly successful. I think it's because the tea is a natural diuretic and I usually don't drink as much water as I need to. I lost seven pounds in four days and dropped from 130lbs / 59kg to 123lbs / 55.8kg. Unfortunately during my vacation I ate a ton. That's why I'm hopping right back into this tea adventure. I'm going to take my measurements as well since I got a nifty tape while I was away. Here's where it starts...

0 hours
Weight: 128.2lbs / 58.3kg

78 hours
Weight: 124.0lbs / 56.2kg

Not a bad amount of progress for something that lasted only three days. I broke the fast with some chicken... that was probably the worst idea I've had in a long time. My digestive system was really upset with me.

Fasting, Before and After Thinspo

I was at my lowest weight of 118lbs (53.5kg) not so long ago. I'm at 125lbs (56.7kg) now (which is nothing considering that I was at 132lbs (59.9kg) a few days ago.) I decided that I wasn't losing fast enough so the solution was simple: stop eating all together. Water only!

I'm 36 hours into this fast and I haven't lost a thing. When I started I was 125.2lbs. I weighed myself before bed and I had gone up to 125.6lbs! I weighed myself when I woke up and I was back at 125.2lbs.

I'm at work now but I plan to hit the scale as soon as I get home. If I haven't lost I'll make a B-line for the gym. If I've lost I'll make a B-line for the gym anyway because this is bullshit and I can do better.

Anyone else have such shitty results with fasting?

In my experience it's much more better and effective to restrict. I don't know why I gave in and fasted this time. I guess I was just desperate to really feel like I was making progress. Fasting makes me feel empty, weak, light headed and all the rest of it... but I never have anything to show for it. On top of that, I end up gaining anything I miraculously managed to lose as soon as I eat a bite of food. Who knew half an apple could weigh half a pound?

Damn you, body. If you want me to be "healthy" you'll start giving me the results I need. If you showed me that I could eat and lose weight then I'd continue to eat. But you're incapable, and so I can't eat. (A more logical person would say, "Hey doofus. That's a sign that you need to eat. Your body is obviously malfunctioning due to lack of food. It's showing you that it needs to eat." To you I say, "This is my experiment so fuck off. No one said it would be easy.")

"Decisions, oh decisions, are to be made and not fought for... I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot. I guess not."

Have some before and after thinspo. [:
